Chapter 14 - The Last Battle for the Mansion

Elena stood inside the council room holding the weapon from fifteen years ago: "I don't remember killing anyone." When Vincent Moretti examined the scene, he discovered a hidden recording device beneath the dead council member’s chair. But the final recording revealed one shocking truth: "Elena was framed before she ever entered the mansion." Vincent realized someone was still controlling the game from the shadows.
The room was silent.
Too silent.
Vincent looked at Elena.
She stood frozen near the doorway.
The weapon in her hand.
The fear in her eyes.
The same expression of someone who had just been accused of something impossible.
"Elena."
She immediately shook her head.
"I didn't do this."
Vincent believed her.
Not because of trust.
Because of evidence.
The scene was wrong.
Everything was too perfect.
The weapon.
The timing.
The message.
Someone wanted them to find Elena here.
Someone wanted the entire family to see her as the enemy.
He slowly walked toward her.
"Give me the gun."
Elena hesitated.
Then placed it in his hand.
Vincent examined it carefully.
The old weapon.
The same one connected to Isabella's disappearance.
The same weapon everyone thought had disappeared fifteen years ago.
But something was different.
The safety was still on.
Vincent looked at Elena.
"Did you fire this?"
"No."
"Did you touch it before tonight?"
She shook her head.
"No."
A voice came from behind.
"Then someone wanted it to look like she did."
Everyone turned.
Isabella stood at the entrance.
Her face was pale.
Because she understood immediately.
"They are repeating the same plan."
Vincent looked at her.
"Same plan?"
Isabella walked into the room.
"Fifteen years ago, they needed a person to blame."
Her eyes moved to Elena.
"Now they need another."
The hidden recording device was removed from beneath the chair.
Vincent played it in the archive.
The voice came through the speakers.
Distorted.
Hidden.
But clear enough.
"The girl will become the perfect sacrifice."
Everyone froze.
Elena's face changed.
The recording continued.
"Once the family sees her as a threat, Vincent will have no choice."
A pause.
"Remove the heir."
Vincent stopped the recording.
Nobody spoke.
Because everyone understood.
The plan wasn't to kill Elena.
Not directly.
The plan was to turn everyone against her.
Just like they had done with Isabella.
Margaret looked at Vincent.
"They wanted history to repeat itself."
Vincent looked at the weapon.
"No."
His voice became cold.
"They wanted me to repeat it."
The next morning, the mansion became a battlefield.
Half the security team refused to follow Vincent.
They claimed he was protecting Elena because of personal feelings.
The council demanded control.
Adrian returned with his supporters.
And for the first time in decades, the Moretti empire was divided.
Vincent stood in the main hall.
Across from him stood Adrian.
"You cannot stop this."
Vincent looked at him.
"I already did."
Adrian smiled.
"You think finding the truth makes you powerful?"
"No."
Vincent stepped forward.
"Choosing what to do with it does."
Adrian looked toward Elena.
"She will never belong here."
Elena answered before Vincent could.
"I don't need to belong here."
Everyone turned.
"I never wanted your empire."
Her voice was steady.
"I wanted my mother back."
Silence.
"And I wanted the truth."
Adrian stared at her.
For the first time, he looked uncertain.
Because Elena was not fighting for power.
She was fighting for something he never understood.
Peace.
Celeste appeared later that day.
Everyone expected her to choose a side.
The old Celeste would have chosen power.
The woman who controlled the mansion.
The woman who manipulated people.
But she walked directly to Vincent.
And placed a folder on the table.
"What is this?"
"My father's final records."
Vincent opened it.
Inside were years of hidden transactions.
Names.
Payments.
Orders.
Everything connected.
Marcus.
Adrian.
The council.
And one final name.
The person who had been giving orders.
Vincent stared.
"Impossible."
Celeste looked at him.
"I thought the same."
Elena stepped closer.
"Who?"
Vincent didn't answer.
Because the name was someone none of them expected.
Someone who had spent years pretending to protect the Moretti family.
Someone who had been there since the beginning.
That evening, Vincent gathered everyone.
No secrets.
No hidden rooms.
No lies.
He placed all the evidence on the table.
"This ends tonight."
Adrian laughed.
"You think exposing the truth will save this family?"
Vincent looked at him.
"No."
A pause.
"It will save the people trapped inside it."
The room became tense.
Then the mansion alarms started.
Again.
Everyone turned.
A guard rushed in.
"Mr. Moretti."
"What happened?"
The guard looked terrified.
"The main gate was opened."
"By who?"
The guard swallowed.
"Someone with family access."
Vincent immediately understood.
Someone had entered.
Someone who didn't need permission.
The doors at the end of the hall slowly opened.
Everyone turned.
A figure walked inside.
Slowly.
Calmly.
Like they owned the place.
Vincent stared.
Because he knew that face.
Everyone did.
The person everyone thought had died years ago.
The person who had controlled the empire from the shadows.
Isabella stepped back.
"No..."
Elena looked at her.
"Who is that?"
Isabella couldn't answer.
Because she was too afraid.
The person smiled.
Then looked directly at Vincent.
"After all these years..."
A pause.
"You finally found me."
Vincent's hand tightened.
May you like
Because the person standing before him was the one person who was never supposed to return.
Vincent Moretti's father.
