Chapter 10 - The Brother Without a Name

A man stood in front of me and whispered: "I was the child your father erased."

When Adrian Valenti confronted his unknown brother, he discovered a hidden birth certificate inside the old folder. But one line was written across the bottom: "Second heir removed." Adrian realized his father's greatest secret was not the empire. It was the family he destroyed.

The stranger stood in the middle of the hidden room.

Nobody moved.

Nobody spoke.

Because everyone saw it.

The resemblance.

The same dark eyes.

The same sharp features.

The same expression Adrian saw every morning when he looked in the mirror.

It was impossible.

But it was real.

Adrian stared at him.

"Who are you?"

The man didn't answer immediately.

His eyes moved toward Isabella.

Then Daniel.

Then finally Adrian.

"My name is Noah."

A pause.

"Noah Valenti."

The name felt unfamiliar.

But the bloodline did not.

Adrian stepped closer.

"You expect me to believe that?"

Noah looked at him calmly.

"I don't need you to believe me."

He reached into his coat.

"I need you to see."

He placed a small envelope on the table.

The paper was old.

Yellowed.

Damaged.

Adrian recognized the handwriting immediately.

His father's.

He opened it.

Inside was a birth certificate.

Another one.

Another child.

Another secret.

The name at the top was clear.

Noah Valenti.

Born six months before Adrian.

Adrian stared.

"No."

Noah watched him.

"That's what he wanted you to say."

Adrian looked up.

"What?"

Noah pointed at the document.

"Your father erased me before you were born."

Silence.

Daniel stepped closer.

"I didn't know."

Noah looked at him.

"Of course you didn't."

The bitterness in his voice was obvious.

"You were the golden child."

Daniel looked away.

Adrian noticed.

Because Daniel didn't defend himself.

And that bothered him more than anything.

"What happened?"

Noah laughed quietly.

A painful laugh.

"Our father discovered my mother wasn't from the family he wanted."

Adrian frowned.

"What does that mean?"

"It means she wasn't useful anymore."

The room became colder.

Noah continued.

"My mother disappeared."

Isabella closed her eyes.

Adrian looked at her.

"You knew."

She didn't answer.

That was enough.

"You knew about him."

A tear fell from Isabella's eyes.

"Yes."

Adrian stepped back.

Another betrayal.

Another piece of his life that belonged to someone else's plan.

"How many people knew?"

No one answered.

Noah looked at him.

"Everyone important."

A pause.

"Everyone except you."

The words hurt because they were true.

Adrian had spent his entire life believing he was the center of the Valenti family.

The heir.

The survivor.

The chosen one.

But now he understood.

He was just another piece on his father's board.

A replacement.

A backup plan.

A child created to continue a legacy built on lies.

"Why come back now?" Adrian asked.

Noah looked toward Lily and Sophia.

"Because he is gone."

"Who?"

Noah looked at the security screens.

"Father."

Adrian frowned.

"He's been dead for ten years."

Noah shook his head.

"No."

Everyone froze.

"He died publicly."

A pause.

"But privately..."

Noah looked at the hidden files.

"He kept working."

Adrian felt anger rising again.

"You are saying my father is alive?"

"No."

Noah looked at him.

"I'm saying his plans are."

The room became silent.

Because that was worse.

A dead man could not be stopped.

A dead man's plans could continue forever.

Noah opened another folder.

Inside were photographs.

Locations.

Names.

Dates.

Adrian looked through them.

Then stopped.

Because one photo showed Elena.

Five years earlier.

Before she disappeared.

Before she became a dancer.

Before Lily was born.

His hands tightened.

"Where did you get this?"

Noah answered:

"From the person who saved her."

Adrian looked up.

"Marcus."

Noah nodded.

Adrian's expression changed.

The man he trusted.

The man he hated.

The man who seemed to be both enemy and protector.

Everything about Marcus was unclear.

"Why did Marcus hide the truth?"

Noah looked at him.

"Because he knew your father had one final plan."

"What plan?"

Noah didn't answer.

Instead, he walked toward a locked cabinet in the corner.

He opened it.

Inside was a small device.

A recording system.

Adrian recognized it.

His father's technology.

Noah pressed a button.

A voice filled the room.

"Adrian."

Everyone froze.

Again.

His father.

"By now, you have discovered Noah."

A pause.

"I assume you are angry."

Adrian stared at the device.

"You created him."

The recording continued.

"Noah was my first attempt."

A cold feeling moved through Adrian.

"Adrian was my second."

Elena looked at him.

"No..."

The recording continued.

"My mistake was allowing emotion to influence the experiment."

Adrian's hands curled into fists.

Experiment.

That word again.

His father didn't see children.

He saw projects.

"The first child failed because he developed independence."

A pause.

"The second child failed because he developed compassion."

Adrian stopped.

Because he understood.

His father wasn't talking about Noah.

He was talking about him.

The recording ended.

But before the screen went black, one final sentence appeared.

"Third child protocol activated."

Nobody breathed.

Daniel looked terrified.

"Third?"

Isabella covered her mouth.

"No."

Adrian turned.

"What does that mean?"

Nobody answered.

Then the hidden room alarm began.

A different alarm.

Not an attack.

A notification.

A file had been accessed.

A file nobody knew existed.

Noah rushed toward the computer.

His face changed.

"What?"

Adrian stepped closer.

"What did you find?"

Noah stared at the screen.

The color disappeared from his face.

Because a new folder had opened automatically.

The title appeared.

"VALENTI CHILD THREE."

Adrian looked at the screen.

Slowly.

The folder contained one photo.

One name.

One birth date.

And beneath it...

May you like

a message from his father.

"Your real successor has been with you all along."
