Chapter 13 - The Man Who Finally Changed

The room became silent.

Nobody spoke.

Because one sentence had changed the way everyone looked at Grace.

The person who signed her admission papers was Grace Bellandi.

Alessandro stared at her.

Not with anger.

Not yet.

With confusion.

A thousand questions appeared at once.

"Grace."

His voice was quiet.

"Why?"

She looked down.

Because she knew this moment would come.

The moment when the truth she had hidden finally reached him.

"I can explain."

Alessandro closed his eyes.

He had heard those words too many times.

From enemies.

From people who betrayed him.

But from Grace...

They hurt differently.

"Then explain."

Grace looked at Leo.

Then at the documents.

Then back at Alessandro.

"Isabella found me before Christmas."

Everyone froze.

"She was hurt."

Daniel stepped forward.

"Where?"

Grace looked at him.

"She was running from Matteo."

Daniel's face changed.

"Why?"

Grace's eyes became filled with pain.

"Because she knew too much."

Six years earlier.

Grace remembered the night Isabella appeared.

The rain.

The darkness.

The fear in her eyes.

Grace had just given birth to Leo.

She was exhausted.

Terrified.

Alone.

Then the hospital room door opened.

A woman stood there.

A woman who looked strangely familiar.

She had Alessandro's eyes.

"Who are you?"

The woman looked at the baby.

Then at Grace.

"My name is Isabella."

Grace froze.

The name.

The connection.

Everything suddenly made sense.

"You are..."

"My sister."

The word felt impossible.

But true.

Isabella sat beside the bed.

She looked broken.

Not physically.

Emotionally.

"I need your help."

Grace was cautious.

"Why would I help you?"

Isabella smiled sadly.

"Because you know what it feels like to love Alessandro."

That sentence changed everything.

Because Isabella knew.

She knew what Alessandro was like before the world changed him.

She knew the man behind the reputation.

And she knew Matteo.

"Matteo is going to destroy him."

Grace looked at her.

"What do you mean?"

"He wants Alessandro to believe that everyone close to him betrays him."

A pause.

"He wants him alone."

Grace looked at Leo.

The baby sleeping peacefully.

"Why tell me?"

Isabella looked at the child.

"Because if Matteo wins, this boy will grow up exactly like Alessandro."

Grace understood.

A cycle.

A child raised by fear.

A family built on secrets.

She couldn't allow that.

So she helped Isabella.

She hid her.

She signed the hospital records.

She protected her.

Not because she wanted another secret.

Because she was trying to stop one.

Present day.

Alessandro listened quietly.

But his silence scared Grace more than anger.

"You hid my sister."

Grace nodded.

"Yes."

"From me."

"Yes."

"After everything..."

His voice cracked slightly.

"You still didn't trust me."

Grace looked at him.

"I trusted the man you could be."

A pause.

"But I was afraid of the man you had become."

The words hurt.

Because they were honest.

Alessandro looked away.

Daniel stepped closer.

"She saved Isabella."

Alessandro looked at him.

"Don't defend her."

Daniel shook his head.

"I'm not."

A pause.

"I'm explaining."

Alessandro said nothing.

Daniel continued.

"If Grace hadn't helped her, Matteo would have found her."

"How do you know?"

Daniel looked at the files.

"Because I was the one who helped Isabella escape before that."

Everyone turned.

"You knew?"

Daniel nodded.

"I knew she was alive."

Alessandro looked exhausted.

"Everyone knew something."

He laughed quietly.

"Everyone except me."

Grace stepped closer.

"Alessandro..."

He looked at her.

And for a moment, she saw the pain.

Not anger.

Pain.

"I spent my whole life thinking people left me."

His voice was low.

"My father."

"My mother."

"My family."

A pause.

"And then I found out everyone was trying to protect me."

Grace's eyes filled.

"I didn't know how to reach you."

He nodded.

"I know."

And that was the hardest part.

He believed her.

They arrived at the private hospital that afternoon.

The same hospital where Isabella had been hidden.

The building belonged to the Bellandi family.

But nobody knew.

Not even Alessandro.

The irony wasn't lost on him.

His own family had secrets inside his own walls.

The elevator opened.

The hallway was empty.

Too empty.

Marco looked around.

"Something is wrong."

Alessandro immediately noticed.

"Why?"

"No guards."

Everyone stopped.

This hospital always had security.

Especially if someone important was inside.

Daniel moved forward.

"She was here yesterday."

Marco checked his phone.

"The records disappeared."

Alessandro's face hardened.

"Someone erased them."

They reached the room.

The door was closed.

Grace stepped closer.

Her hands trembled.

"Isabella?"

No answer.

She opened the door.

The room was empty.

The bed was made.

The machines were turned off.

No patient.

No doctor.

No trace.

Only one thing remained.

A photograph on the table.

Alessandro picked it up.

It showed Isabella.

But she wasn't alone.

Standing beside her was a man.

A man Alessandro recognized.

His entire body froze.

Because the man in the photograph was someone he thought died years ago.

His father's closest advisor.

The person who trained Matteo.

The person who knew every Bellandi secret.

Daniel whispered:

"No..."

Alessandro looked at him.

"You know him."

Daniel nodded slowly.

"Yes."

"Who is he?"

Daniel's face turned pale.

"His name is Rafael."

A pause.

"He was the real head of the Bellandi organization."

Everyone went silent.

Alessandro stared at the photograph.

"Then why did my father control everything?"

Daniel looked at the back of the picture.

There was writing.

A message.

Alessandro turned it over.

Three words.

She knows everything.

Then his phone rang.

Unknown number.

He answered.

No one spoke.

Only a woman's breathing.

Then a whisper.

"Alessandro..."

His face changed.

Because he knew that voice.

It was impossible.

It was Isabella.

"Where are you?"

A pause.

Then she whispered:

"Run."

The call ended.

And at that exact moment, every screen in the hospital turned on.

A live video appeared.

May you like

Showing Isabella sitting in a dark room.

And behind her stood Rafael.
