Chapter 6 - The Daughter I Was Never Supposed To Find

A little girl pointed at the man outside my mansion and whispered:
"That's the person mommy said would take me away."
When Adrian Moretti opened the hidden compartment inside Lily's necklace, he discovered a final message from Isabella.
Inside was a photograph showing a secret hospital room.
And written on the back was one sentence:
"Your daughter was never supposed to survive."
I couldn't move.
I couldn't speak.
For three years, I had imagined the person responsible for destroying my family.
I imagined a stranger.
An enemy.
Someone I had never met.
But the truth was standing outside my mansion.
Someone from my past.
Someone connected to everything.
The security monitor showed his face clearly.
The man standing outside the gate wasn't just someone who knew my family.
He was someone who had been there from the beginning.
Michael stared at the screen.
His face had lost all color.
"How is he alive?"
I looked at him.
"You tell me."
Michael didn't answer.
That was enough.
Another secret.
Another lie.
I turned toward Victor.
"How many people have been hiding things from me?"
Nobody answered.
The silence was worse than any confession.
Lily squeezed my hand.
"Adrian..."
I looked down.
She rarely called me by my name.
Usually, she said nothing.
She just stayed close.
But now she looked scared.
"What is it?"
She pointed toward the monitor.
"Mommy said if he comes back..."
She stopped.
I lowered myself closer.
"If he comes back, what?"
Her eyes filled with tears.
"She said you have to run."
Those words hit me harder than any weapon.
Because Isabella was never afraid.
Not of anyone.
Not even death.
If she told Lily to run from this man...
Then I needed to understand why.
I looked at Marco.
"Get everyone into the safe room."
Marco nodded immediately.
This time, he didn't question me.
Because now he understood.
This was no longer about business.
This was about my daughter.
As the security team moved, Michael stayed near the monitor.
I watched him carefully.
"You knew he was alive."
Michael looked at me.
"I suspected."
"Suspected?"
I laughed bitterly.
"My brother walked into my house after fifteen years and tells me he suspected a dead man was alive?"
His expression hardened.
"You think I wanted to stay hidden?"
"Then explain."
Michael looked at Lily.
"I disappeared because I found out the truth."
"What truth?"
"The Moretti family wasn't attacked because of your enemies."
He paused.
"It was attacked because someone inside our family wanted everything."
I stared at him.
"Our family?"
Michael nodded.
"Someone with the right name."
The right name.
Those words stayed in my mind.
Because I understood what he meant.
The person responsible wasn't just someone close.
It was someone protected by our blood.
Someone nobody would question.
The front doors suddenly opened.
The security team aimed their weapons.
But nobody entered.
Only a small package was placed on the floor.
No sender.
No address.
Just my name.
ADRIAN MORETTI.
I moved toward it.
Marco immediately stopped me.
"Sir, wait."
I looked at him.
"You think I should be afraid of another box?"
He didn't answer.
Because we both knew.
Three years ago, a box changed everything.
A box containing evidence.
A box that led to the explosion.
I opened it carefully.
Inside was an old hospital bracelet.
My hands froze.
I recognized it immediately.
Lily's.
The name was written on it.
But it wasn't Lily Carter.
It said:
BABY GIRL MORETTI.
My breathing became heavier.
I looked at Lily.
She was watching me.
Confused.
Scared.
Michael whispered:
"They changed her identity."
The room went silent.
"What?"
Michael looked at the bracelet.
"After the explosion, they needed Lily to disappear."
"Who?"
He didn't answer.
I grabbed his jacket.
"Who changed my daughter's identity?"
Michael looked at me.
"The same person who changed the hospital records."
My grip tightened.
"Say the name."
Michael looked away.
"Adrian..."
"Say it."
His voice became almost a whisper.
"Your father."
The room went completely silent.
My father.
A man who died before Lily was born.
A man who raised me.
A man I spent my entire life respecting.
Impossible.
"You are lying."
Michael shook his head.
"I wish I was."
I moved back.
My mind refused to accept it.
"My father loved this family."
Michael looked at me.
"Your father loved power."
I remembered.
The old conversations.
The arguments.
The way he always told me:
"Family is everything."
But maybe I misunderstood.
Maybe he meant something else.
Maybe family wasn't something he protected.
Maybe it was something he controlled.
Victor stepped forward.
"There is more."
I looked at him.
"Of course there is."
His expression was serious.
"Isabella found documents proving your father created a second identity network."
"Meaning?"
"Meaning he had people disappear."
My eyes moved toward Lily.
"Like my daughter."
Victor nodded.
"Yes."
I looked at the necklace again.
The memory card.
The hidden message.
The photograph.
Everything Isabella left behind was pointing toward one person.
My father.
But something didn't make sense.
My father had been dead for years.
Then how could he be responsible for what happened three years ago?
I looked at Michael.
"You said someone inside the family wanted everything."
Michael nodded.
"Yes."
"Then who is running it now?"
Nobody spoke.
Then Lily quietly said:
"Mommy told me."
Everyone turned toward her.
I moved closer.
"What did your mother tell you?"
She touched her necklace.
"She said the person who hurt our family..."
Her voice became smaller.
"...was still pretending to love us."
My heart sank.
Before I could ask another question, the memory card inside the necklace started flashing.
Everyone looked at it.
Marco grabbed the device.
"Sir, it activated."
The card connected to the computer.
A hidden video appeared.
No title.
No date.
Only one image.
Isabella.
But this time she wasn't alone.
She was standing inside a hospital room.
Holding baby Lily.
And standing beside her was the person I never expected to see.
Someone who should have been dead.
Someone whose name was connected to my childhood.
The video started.
Isabella looked directly into the camera.
Her voice trembled.
"Adrian, if you are watching this..."
She paused.
Then she said:
"The person who raised you was not your real father."
May you like
The screen went black.
And behind me, someone whispered my name.
