Chapter 11 - The Final Enemy Inside My Home

A hidden door opened beneath the basement floor, and Isabella whispered:

"Adrian, the person who destroyed us is standing closer than you think."

When Adrian Moretti entered the secret room, he discovered the final evidence Isabella had protected for three years.

Inside was a recording showing the night of the explosion.

But the person giving the order was someone Adrian had never suspected.

The basement became silent.

Nobody moved.

Nobody spoke.

Because everyone understood what Isabella's message meant.

The enemy wasn't outside.

The enemy wasn't a rival.

The enemy had been inside my life.

Inside my family.

Inside my home.

I looked at Isabella.

"Tell me."

Her eyes filled with pain.

"Adrian..."

"No."

My voice became harder.

"Not another secret."

She lowered her head.

"I wanted to protect you."

I laughed bitterly.

"Everyone says that."

I looked around the room.

"Everyone says they protected me."

My eyes moved to Michael.

"While I lost my daughter."

Then Victor.

"While I buried my wife."

Then Thomas.

"While everyone decided what I deserved to know."

Nobody answered.

Because nobody could.

Isabella stepped closer.

"I know what I did hurt you."

I looked at her.

"You disappeared."

A tear fell from her face.

"I know."

"You let me believe you were dead."

"I know."

"You let me grieve alone."

Her voice broke.

"I know."

I wanted to stay angry.

I wanted to blame her.

But then Lily walked between us.

She grabbed both our hands.

"Mommy didn't leave you."

I looked down.

Lily looked at me.

"She was scared."

Those words stopped me.

Because a child who lost three years with her father still believed her mother loved him.

I looked at Isabella.

"Scared of who?"

She turned toward the hidden room.

"Of him."

The lights inside the secret room turned on.

A screen activated.

A video file appeared.

The title was:

THE NIGHT EVERYTHING CHANGED.

Isabella walked toward the computer.

"I recorded this the night before the explosion."

I followed her.

"What is it?"

"The truth."

The video opened.

At first, there was only darkness.

Then a familiar voice appeared.

My father's voice.

I froze.

No.

Not again.

My father had been dead for years.

But there he was.

Speaking.

Giving orders.

The recording showed a private meeting.

A room I didn't recognize.

Several people sat around a table.

Then my father entered.

Older.

Stronger.

Alive.

My hands gripped the wheelchair.

"Impossible."

Michael looked away.

Isabella whispered:

"Your father didn't die when they told you."

The video continued.

My father sat down.

And the first words he said were:

"Adrian is the only problem left."

My blood went cold.

The room disappeared.

I only heard those words.

My father.

Talking about me.

Like I was an obstacle.

Like I was an enemy.

The video continued.

"We can't control him anymore."

Another voice answered.

"We can remove him."

My body went still.

Isabella paused the video.

She looked at me.

"I found this after investigating the explosion."

I couldn't speak.

My own father planned against me.

The man who taught me everything.

The man whose approval I spent years chasing.

He wanted me gone.

"Why?"

Isabella looked down.

"Because he knew you would choose your family over his empire."

I stared.

"My family?"

She nodded.

"He wanted Lily because she was your weakness."

I looked at my daughter.

My heart broke.

She was never a target because of who she was.

She was a target because she was loved.

The video continued.

My father looked at the people around the table.

"After the accident, Adrian will inherit everything."

A man asked:

"What about the girl?"

My father answered:

"She disappears."

The room went silent.

I stopped breathing.

No.

No.

I looked at Lily.

My daughter.

My little girl.

The child I thought I lost forever.

Someone planned to erase her.

The video suddenly changed.

A new recording appeared.

This one was from Isabella.

She was speaking directly into the camera.

"If Adrian sees this, it means I failed to stop them."

She looked exhausted.

"But there is something he must know."

I moved closer.

"Adrian..."

Her voice trembled.

"The explosion was not ordered by your father alone."

Everyone looked at her.

"What?"

She continued.

"He had help."

My heart sank.

"Who?"

The video showed a document.

A list of names.

At the bottom was a signature.

I recognized it.

My hand froze.

Because I had seen that signature thousands of times.

On business contracts.

On legal documents.

On everything connected to my empire.

The signature belonged to me.

No.

It couldn't be.

I looked at Isabella.

"What does that mean?"

She stepped closer.

"Someone forged your signature."

Michael spoke quietly.

"To make it look like you ordered everything."

The realization hit me.

The entire operation.

The illegal accounts.

The hidden documents.

The evidence against me.

It was all designed to destroy me.

Someone wanted the world to believe Adrian Moretti was the villain.

The person who ruined his own family.

I looked at Thomas.

"You knew."

He nodded.

"I discovered the plan too late."

I looked at Victor.

"You knew."

He nodded.

"I tried to stop it."

I looked at Michael.

"You knew."

His face was full of regret.

"Yes."

I closed my eyes.

Everyone knew.

Everyone except me.

Then the video showed one final image.

A security camera from the night of the explosion.

The person who placed the device walked away.

The camera followed him.

Then another person appeared.

Standing beside the car.

Watching.

Giving the signal.

The image became clearer.

Everyone in the room froze.

Because the second person wasn't a stranger.

It wasn't my father.

It wasn't Richard.

It was someone who had been protecting me for years.

Someone I trusted completely.

Lily looked at the screen.

Then she whispered:

"That's the man mommy told me never to trust."

I looked closer.

My heart stopped.

Because the person standing beside the explosion...

Was Marco.

My oldest friend.

My protector.

The man who had saved my life countless times.

The man standing beside me right now.

Marco slowly stepped back.

"Adrian..."

Nobody moved.

Nobody breathed.

I stared at him.

"Tell me I'm wrong."

Marco said nothing.

Then his phone suddenly rang.

He looked at the screen.

His face changed.

May you like

And before anyone could stop him...

He answered the call.
