Chapter 6 - The Father Behind The Locked Door

A locked office door opened by itself, and Kenji Takahashi whispered: "My father..."

When Kenji stepped inside, he discovered an old family room hidden beneath his headquarters. But on the dusty desk was a document with his name written across the top: "THE TRUE HEIR." Kenji realized his entire life had been built on a lie.

The door slowly opened.

Nobody moved.

The hallway outside was empty.

No footsteps.

No sound.

Just darkness.

Kenji stared at the open doorway.

For eight years, he had walked through hundreds of dangerous situations.

He had faced enemies with guns.

He had survived betrayals.

He had watched people lie directly to his face.

But this was different.

Because the person waiting behind that door was not an enemy.

It was the person who created him.

"Boss."

Ren reached for his weapon.

Kenji raised his hand.

"Don't."

Ren looked surprised.

"But if someone is inside..."

"I know."

Kenji stepped forward.

Lily grabbed his hand.

He looked down.

The little girl was afraid.

Not because of the unknown person behind the door.

Because she could feel what Kenji was feeling.

Fear.

For the first time, she saw the man everyone called dangerous become uncertain.

"Don't go alone," she whispered.

Kenji looked at her.

Then he nodded.

"Stay close."

Together, they entered.

The office was not like the rest of Kenji's headquarters.

No modern equipment.

No security screens.

No weapons.

It looked like a room frozen in time.

Old wooden shelves.

Dust-covered books.

Family portraits.

A large desk facing the window.

The strangest part was the silence.

It felt like someone had been waiting for years.

Kenji walked slowly.

His eyes moved across the walls.

Then he stopped.

A photograph.

A young Kenji.

A young Akira.

And a man standing between them.

His father.

Masato Takahashi.

The man who died when Kenji was twenty.

The man whose death changed everything.

The man who supposedly left Kenji the entire organization.

Kenji touched the picture.

Something felt wrong.

Because his father was smiling.

But Kenji remembered him differently.

Cold.

Strict.

Impossible to please.

A man who believed emotions were weaknesses.

A man who taught Kenji one lesson above all.

"Trust no one."

But now Kenji wondered.

Was that lesson meant to protect him?

Or control him?

"Boss."

Ren pointed toward the desk.

There was a folder.

Perfectly placed.

Waiting.

Kenji approached.

His name was written on it.

KENJI TAKAHASHI.

He opened it.

Inside were documents.

Birth records.

Financial records.

Medical records.

And one page that made him stop.

A DNA report.

Kenji read the first line.

Then the second.

Then the third.

His expression changed.

Ren noticed.

"What is it?"

Kenji didn't answer.

Because the words in front of him destroyed something he had believed his entire life.

PATERNITY TEST RESULTS.

The name listed as father:

Masato Takahashi.

The result:

NO BIOLOGICAL RELATIONSHIP.

Kenji stared.

Impossible.

He checked again.

The same result.

"No."

His voice was barely audible.

Lily looked up.

"What happened?"

Kenji closed the folder.

"Nothing."

But everyone knew he was lying.

Ren had worked beside him for years.

He knew every expression.

Every silence.

Every moment Kenji tried to hide pain.

"This changes everything."

Kenji looked at him.

"Find out who created this report."

Ren nodded.

But before he could move, Lily noticed something.

A small box under the desk.

"Mr. Takahashi."

Kenji turned.

She pointed.

"What is that?"

He pulled it out.

Inside was an old wooden box.

No lock.

No label.

Only a single sentence carved into the top.

"For the child who was never supposed to inherit."

Kenji froze.

His fingers moved slowly.

He opened it.

Inside was a small bracelet.

A hospital bracelet.

The name printed on it was faded.

But still readable.

KENJI.

The date was twenty-eight years ago.

Kenji looked at Lily.

"Why would my father keep this?"

Nobody answered.

Then the hidden room behind the bookshelf opened.

Everyone turned.

A man stepped out.

Older.

Gray hair.

A scar across his face.

But alive.

Kenji raised his weapon.

The man didn't move.

"Put that down."

Kenji stared.

Because he knew him.

Not from photographs.

Not from stories.

From memory.

A man who disappeared after his father's death.

A man everyone believed was killed.

Akira.

But this time, he wasn't on a phone.

He was standing right there.

Alive.

Lily immediately moved behind Kenji.

Akira looked at her.

His expression softened.

"You found her."

Kenji's eyes narrowed.

"You knew?"

Akira looked at him.

"I knew she would save you."

The answer made Kenji angry.

"You let a seven-year-old girl walk into a room with poison?"

Akira's face changed.

"I didn't."

"Then explain."

Akira looked at the photographs on the desk.

"I was trying to keep her alive."

Kenji stepped closer.

"You disappeared."

"Yes."

"You let me believe you were dead."

"Yes."

"You let me believe Emma betrayed me."

Akira lowered his eyes.

"Because if you knew the truth, you would have died too."

Kenji laughed once.

A cold laugh.

"Everyone says that."

Akira looked at him.

"Because everyone is afraid to tell you."

"Tell me what?"

A long silence.

Then Akira answered:

"That Masato Takahashi was never your father."

Kenji already knew.

But hearing it from him made it real.

"Who was I?"

Akira didn't answer immediately.

Instead, he walked toward the desk.

He opened another hidden compartment.

Inside was a file.

Older than everything else.

Akira placed it in front of Kenji.

"The night you were born, your real family was killed."

Kenji stared.

"Real family?"

Akira nodded.

"Your father was the leader of an organization older than this one."

"Then why was I raised by Masato?"

"Because Masato saved you."

Kenji frowned.

"Why?"

Akira looked directly into his eyes.

"Because he was the man who destroyed your family."

The room went silent.

Kenji felt like the ground moved beneath him.

"You're saying he saved me after killing them?"

Akira nodded.

"He wanted control."

"Control of what?"

Akira looked at the folder.

"Of you."

Kenji opened it.

Inside were pictures.

A baby.

A hospital.

A woman crying.

And one final image.

A man holding a newborn child.

The man was Masato.

But the baby had a bracelet.

The same bracelet from the box.

Kenji looked closer.

There was writing underneath.

A name.

A name he had never heard before.

Then Akira whispered:

"That's your real name."

Kenji looked at the paper.

His hands tightened.

Because beneath his entire identity...

Was a name that changed everything.

And before he could read it fully, the security alarm suddenly exploded throughout the building.

Ren looked at his phone.

His face turned pale.

"Boss..."

Kenji looked up.

"What?"

Ren swallowed.

"The main entrance."

A pause.

"Someone just walked in."

Kenji reached for his weapon.

"Who?"

Ren stared at the screen.

Then whispered:

"It's Hiro Sato."

The man who tried to poison him.

The man who betrayed him.

May you like

And the man who was supposed to be coming here alone...

But the camera showed someone walking beside him.
