Chapter 16 - The True Vow

Two months later, on a crisp autumn afternoon, a small gathering assembled on the high green bluffs overlooking Echo Creek.
There were no massive velvet tents, no security details, and no flashing news cameras. Just twenty people—close friends, family, Captain Marcus Vance, and little Lily.
The setup was simple: an archway made of cedar branches and white roses standing at the edge of the cliff where the lighthouse stood in the background, its newly restored lantern room gleaming brightly in the afternoon sun.
Julian stood beneath the arch in a simple black suit, his eyes fixed on the path leading up from the woods.
The sound of an acoustic guitar played softly as Clara emerged from the trees.
She wore an elegant, understated lace wedding gown. Walking beside her, holding her arm with proud tears shining in her eyes, was Evelyn Vance.
As they reached the altar, Evelyn kissed Clara’s cheek and placed her hand into Julian’s.
"Take care of my girl," Evelyn whispered to Julian.
"With my life," Julian promised softly.
The minister stepped forward, but before he could speak the traditional vows, Clara turned to Julian, holding his hands tightly in hers.

"Julian," Clara said, her voice rich with deep emotion, "six months ago, our wedding was stopped by a broken chain and a dark secret. But in that moment of terror, you didn't run. You stood between me and danger. You showed me what true love, courage, and loyalty really mean. You didn't just become my husband today—you helped save my family."
Julian smiled, his own eyes glistening with tears. "Clara, I promised to love you in good times and bad. We've already faced the worst storm imaginable, and we came out standing together. I promise to spend the rest of my life making sure you only ever know peace, joy, and unconditional love."
