Chapter 6 - The Brother Who Never Died

The hospital hallway went silent.
A man stepped out of the darkness and whispered:
"Clara..."
Luca Moretti turned around slowly.
Because he knew that voice.
And the person standing in front of him was the brother he had buried eight years ago.
Clara stared at the man.
She looked at Luca.
Then back at the stranger.
The resemblance was impossible to ignore.
Same dark eyes.
Same sharp jawline.
Same calm expression that hid something much deeper.
But Luca looked like he had seen a ghost.
"Michael."
The name left his mouth like it hurt.
The man standing in the hallway didn't smile.
He didn't move.
He only looked at Luca.
"I thought you would recognize me faster."
Luca took one step forward.
Then stopped.
His entire body seemed frozen between disbelief and anger.
"You died."
Michael looked down.
"I know."
The answer was too calm.
Too simple.
Clara felt a chill.
Because everyone kept saying the same thing.
People died.
People disappeared.
People were erased.
And somehow, they kept coming back.
"What is happening?" Clara whispered.
Nobody answered.
Michael finally looked toward her.
"You have no idea how long I've waited to see you."
Clara immediately stepped backward.
"Me?"
Michael nodded.
"You were the reason everything started."
The words made Luca's expression change.
"Don't."
Michael looked at him.
"You still don't want her to know?"
Luca's jaw tightened.
"Not like this."
Clara looked between them.
"No."
Her voice was louder this time.
"No more secrets."
Everyone became silent.
She looked at Luca.
"You knew my mother was alive."
Then at Thomas.
"You knew my identity was fake."
Then at Michael.
"And now I find out you died but you're standing here."
Her hands trembled.
"But somehow I'm the only person who knows nothing."
Nobody spoke.
Clara looked around the room.
"I deserve the truth."
For a moment, nobody moved.
Then Michael slowly nodded.
"You're right."
He walked into the trauma room.
The security guards immediately watched him carefully.
But Luca didn't stop him.
Michael looked at the old video recorder Sarah had left behind.
"She was going to show you everything."
Clara looked at him.
"Who is Sarah?"
Michael's expression softened.
"Your mother."
Clara swallowed.
"Then why did everyone tell me she was dead?"
Michael looked at Arthur's empty chair.
"Because someone needed you to believe that."
"Who?"
Michael looked directly at Luca.
"The same person who made you think I died."
The room became quiet.
Luca's face hardened.
"Tell her."
Michael looked at him.
"You want me to tell her how your own family was destroyed?"
Luca didn't answer.
Clara noticed something.
Pain.
Not anger.
Pain.
Michael continued.
"Eight years ago, I discovered something inside this hospital."
He looked around.
"A hidden network."
Clara listened carefully.
"Doctors."
"Administrators."
"Security."
"People who used the hospital to erase identities."
Clara remembered the files.
The recordings.
The fake records.
Michael nodded.
"They didn't just change medical information."
"They changed people's lives."
Luca stepped closer.
"My brother found proof."
Michael looked at him.
"And that's when they decided I couldn't leave."
Clara covered her mouth.
"What happened?"
Michael looked down.
"They created an accident."
A pause.
"They made everyone believe I died."
Luca's voice became low.
"But I saw your body."
Michael looked at him.
"No."
The room froze.
"You saw someone they wanted you to see."
Luca's expression changed.
"Who?"
Michael didn't answer immediately.
Then he looked at the video recorder.
"The person who was supposed to protect us."
Clara felt her stomach tighten.
"Who?"
Michael looked toward the hallway.
Then whispered:
"Your father."
The words hit everyone.
Clara stopped breathing.
"I don't have a father."
Michael looked at her.
"That's another lie."
She shook her head.
"No."
"Clara."
His voice softened.
"Your father is the reason your name disappeared."
She felt anger rising.
"Where is he?"
Nobody answered.
Michael looked at Luca.
"Show her."
Luca remained silent.
Michael continued.
"You owe her that much."
Slowly, Luca reached into his jacket.
He pulled out a small key.
Clara stared at it.
"What is that?"
"The key to a place nobody has entered in eight years."
Michael looked at her.
"Where your father hid the original records."
Clara looked at Luca.
"You had this?"
Luca didn't deny it.
"I was trying to find the truth."
"But you never told me."
"I was trying to protect you."
She laughed quietly.
Not because it was funny.
Because she was tired.
"Everyone says that."
Nobody responded.
Because everyone knew she was right.
Protecting her had become another way of controlling her.
Suddenly, the hospital alarm system activated.
Red lights flashed above the doors.
A security message appeared on the monitors.
"UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS DETECTED."
Michael immediately turned serious.
"They found us."
Luca looked at his security team.
"How?"
Nobody answered.
Then one of the monitors changed.
The camera showed the hospital basement.
A place Clara had never seen.
The image was dark.
Old.
Dust covered the floor.
But something was visible in the center of the room.
A table.
A chair.
And a wall covered with photographs.
Michael stared at the screen.
His face changed.
"What is it?"
Clara asked.
Michael didn't answer.
Because he was looking at one specific photograph.
A photograph of Clara as a child.
Standing beside a man.
A man whose face had been scratched out.
But underneath the picture...
someone had written a name.
Luca slowly walked closer to the screen.
His voice became a whisper.
"No..."
Clara looked at him.
"What?"
Luca stared at the photograph.
Then at Michael.
"That isn't possible."
The basement camera moved closer.
Almost like someone behind it was controlling the view.
The scratched-out face disappeared from the screen.
Revealing the man underneath.
Clara saw the face.
May you like
And Michael whispered:
"Your father is alive."
