Chapter 11 - The Mother Who Held The Final Secret

The security screen went black.
Nobody spoke.
Nobody moved.
Because the person standing outside the Valente estate was impossible.
Dominic stared at the empty monitor.
His mind refused to accept what his eyes had just seen.
His real mother.
The woman who had supposedly died before he was old enough to remember.
The woman whose disappearance had created every secret surrounding his life.
She was outside.
Alive.
Again.
But something felt wrong.
Because Clara was already standing beside him.
His mother.
The woman he had just touched.
The woman who had walked into the archive minutes ago.
So who was the person at the gate?
Dominic slowly turned.
Everyone looked equally confused.
Even Clara.
And that scared him more than anything.
Because Clara knew every secret.
Every lie.
Every hidden piece of the past.
But now...
she looked afraid.
"Who is she?"
Dominic asked.
No one answered.
He looked at Clara.
"Who is outside?"
Clara's lips parted.
But no words came out.
Then Elias spoke.
"Your mother."
Dominic turned sharply.
"What?"
The doctor looked at Clara.
Then toward the entrance.
"Both of them."
The room went silent.
Dominic stared.
"Explain."
Elias sighed.
"Because the woman you knew as your mother..."
He looked at Clara.
"Was not the only person who carried that identity."
Dominic felt his stomach tighten.
"No."
Elias opened the old medical file.
Inside were documents.
Photographs.
Records.
And one name repeated over and over.
Isabella Moretti.
Dominic stared.
The woman from the photograph.
The woman connected to Marco.
The woman everyone had blamed.
"The person outside is Isabella."
Clara whispered.
Dominic looked at her.
"Why would she come here?"
Clara's eyes filled with fear.
"Because she knows the truth is exposed."
The mansion suddenly felt smaller.
Every hallway.
Every room.
Every hidden corner.
It no longer felt like home.
It felt like a place built to hide things.
Dominic walked toward the entrance.
The guards immediately followed.
"Nobody moves until I say."
His voice returned.
Cold.
Controlled.
The voice of the man everyone feared.
But inside...
he was still the boy who had lost his mother.
The doors opened.
The morning air entered.
And there she stood.
Isabella Moretti.
Older than the photograph.
But exactly the same eyes.
The same calm expression.
The same confidence of someone who had always known more than everyone else.
She looked at Dominic.
Then smiled.
"Hello, Dominic."
Nobody spoke.
Dominic stared.
"You look disappointed."
He stepped forward.
"You should be dead."
Isabella smiled slightly.
"That seems to be a common belief in your family."
Behind Dominic, Clara stepped forward.
"Why are you here?"
Isabella looked at her.
"Because it's time."
Clara's expression hardened.
"Time for what?"
Isabella looked at Dominic.
"For him to know the whole truth."
Dominic laughed coldly.
"I've heard that before."
He stepped closer.
"Everyone who lied to me said they were protecting me."
Isabella looked almost sympathetic.
"Because they were."
"Then why does everyone who protected me destroy my life?"
For the first time, Isabella's expression changed.
A small crack.
A hint of sadness.
"Because the truth was never meant to be kind."
Dominic stared at her.
"Start talking."
Isabella looked toward the mansion.
Toward Lorenzo.
Toward Adrian.
Toward Clara.
Then back at Dominic.
"You were never created."
The words surprised him.
Dominic frowned.
"What?"
"You heard the wrong part."
Isabella stepped closer.
"They wanted you to believe you were a replacement."
A pause.
"But you weren't."
Dominic didn't move.
"Then what was I?"
Isabella looked at him.
"The first child."
Silence.
Everyone froze.
Dominic shook his head.
"No."
Isabella nodded.
"Yes."
She looked toward Elias.
"He knows."
The doctor lowered his eyes.
Dominic looked at him.
"You knew?"
Elias didn't deny it.
Isabella continued.
"When you were born, your father discovered something."
"What?"
"That the Valente family bloodline had been manipulated for decades."
Dominic listened.
"The heirs before you were not chosen by love."
"They were chosen by power."
A pause.
"Your father wanted to end it."
Dominic looked at Lorenzo.
His father said nothing.
"Then why all the lies?"
Isabella looked at Clara.
"Because someone tried to kill you."
Dominic froze.
"When?"
"When you were a baby."
The words felt impossible.
Isabella continued.
"The night your mother disappeared was not the night she abandoned you."
Dominic looked at Clara.
"It was the night she saved you."
Clara's eyes filled with tears.
"I tried to take you away."
Her voice shook.
"But they found us."
Dominic's breathing slowed.
"Who?"
Everyone became silent.
Isabella looked directly at Adrian.
The room changed.
Dominic noticed.
"No."
Adrian stepped back.
"Don't."
Isabella ignored him.
"The person who ordered the attack..."
She paused.
"Was someone Marco trusted."
Dominic looked at Adrian.
Adrian's face changed.
"I didn't know."
Isabella looked at him.
"You knew enough."
Dominic felt the anger return.
"What does that mean?"
Adrian looked broken.
"I was young."
"How young?"
"Seventeen."
Dominic stared.
"You were there?"
Adrian closed his eyes.
"Yes."
The answer hurt.
Not because Adrian had been there.
Because he had hidden it.
Dominic turned away.
"Everyone was there."
A bitter smile appeared.
"Everyone knew."
Then Lia spoke.
Small.
Quiet.
"Mr. Dominic..."
Everyone looked at her.
The little girl was holding her stuffed rabbit.
She looked at Isabella.
"Are you the bad person?"
The question froze the room.
Isabella looked at the child.
And something unexpected happened.
Her expression softened.
"No."
Lia tilted her head.
"Then why did everyone hide from you?"
Isabella looked away.
Because that question was harder than any accusation.
"Because sometimes people are afraid of the truth."
Lia held Elena's hand.
"Mom said secrets make people sad."
Nobody answered.
Because the child was right.
Then every phone in the room received a notification.
One sound.
At the same time.
Dominic checked his phone.
A message.
No number.
No name.
Only one sentence.
THE WRONG WOMAN CAME HOME.
His expression changed.
He looked at Isabella.
Then Clara.
Then the message again.
A second message appeared.
YOUR MOTHER IS STILL INSIDE.
Dominic slowly looked toward the mansion.
The guards immediately reacted.
"Sir?"
Nobody moved.
Because everyone understood.
Someone else was inside.
Someone who had been there the entire time.
Dominic walked back through the entrance.
His eyes scanned the hallway.
The portraits.
The shadows.
The locked doors.
Everything suddenly felt watched.
Then he saw it.
A small mark on the floor.
A fresh footprint.
Leading toward the old family wing.
The wing that had been sealed for fifteen years.
The wing where his mother's belongings were stored.
The wing nobody had entered since the night she disappeared.
Dominic reached the door.
His hand moved toward the handle.
May you like
It was already unlocked.
Someone was waiting inside.
