Chapter 1 - The Drawing That Changed Everything

A little girl sat on the driveway floor, holding a red crayon and whispering: "Mommy, I made Mr. Adrian happy."

When mafia boss Adrian Moretti arrived, he found a red drawing covering his million-dollar black sedan.

But beneath the drawing were two tiny words written by a child:

"For you."

Adrian suddenly realized this wasn't damage to his car.

It was a warning.

Claire Bennett had learned one important rule during the eight months she worked at the Moretti estate.

Never make Adrian Moretti angry.

Not because of the rumors.

Not because of the stories people whispered when his name was mentioned.

But because Claire had seen something much more frightening.

Silence.

Adrian Moretti never shouted.

He never threatened people in front of witnesses.

He simply looked at someone, said a few quiet words, and somehow everyone understood exactly what would happen next.

Claire worked in the estate as a maid because she had nowhere else to go.

Two years earlier, her husband Daniel had died in a highway accident, leaving her alone with their daughter Lily and a mountain of unpaid bills.

Lily was only three years old, but she had already learned that her mother cried quietly after midnight.

Claire always thought she hid it.

She was wrong.

Children noticed everything.

Especially children like Lily.

That morning, Claire had been cleaning the outdoor dining area while Lily sat nearby coloring in an old notebook.

"Stay right here, sweetheart," Claire had said.

Lily nodded seriously.

"I stay."

Claire smiled.

"You promise?"

Lily lifted three tiny fingers.

"Three promises."

Claire laughed.

It was the kind of laugh she rarely allowed herself anymore.

For a few minutes, everything felt normal.

Until the silence came.

The kind of silence that made every worker at the estate stop moving.

Claire looked toward the driveway.

Her heart dropped.

Lily was no longer sitting beside the table.

She was standing beside Adrian Moretti’s car.

And in her hand was a red crayon.

Claire froze.

Across the black surface of the luxury sedan was a drawing.

Two stick figures.

One tall.

One small.

Holding hands beneath a crooked sun.

Claire felt the blood leave her face.

"Lily!"

Her daughter turned around happily.

"Mommy, look!"

Claire rushed forward.

"No, no, no..."

Twenty security guards stood around the driveway.

Nobody spoke.

Nobody moved.

Because Adrian Moretti had just arrived.

He stood beside the car, staring at the drawing.

His expression revealed nothing.

Claire grabbed Lily gently and pulled her closer.

"Mr. Moretti, I am so sorry."

Nothing.

"I turned away for one minute."

Nothing.

"I will pay for the damage."

One of the guards looked at the car.

Everyone knew that was impossible.

The vehicle cost more than Claire would earn in a lifetime.

"I can work extra hours," Claire continued desperately. "Please. Just don't fire me."

Adrian finally looked away from the drawing.

His eyes moved to Lily.

The little girl looked up at him.

Not afraid.

Not even slightly.

That surprised everyone.

Adrian stepped closer.

Claire immediately moved in front of her daughter.

A small protective movement.

But Adrian noticed.

He stopped.

For a moment, something unreadable crossed his face.

Then he slowly lowered himself.

A man feared by politicians, businessmen, and criminals around the city was now kneeling on the stone driveway in front of a three-year-old girl.

Nobody understood what they were seeing.

Adrian looked at the drawing.

"Why did you draw this?"

Lily tilted her head.

"Because you needed it."

Claire swallowed.

"Sweetheart..."

But Lily continued.

"You look lonely."

The entire driveway became silent.

Adrian stared at her.

Most people avoided looking him in the eyes.

This child looked directly at him.

"You think I'm lonely?"

Lily nodded.

"You walk by the window at night."

Claire felt uncomfortable.

She looked at Adrian.

Lily pointed toward the servants’ building.

"You look down like this."

The little girl lowered her head dramatically.

"Like my daddy."

Something changed.

Barely.

But Claire saw it.

Adrian’s eyes softened for half a second.

"My daddy was sad after Grandma died."

Claire looked away.

She remembered Daniel.

She remembered the hospital.

The phone call.

The empty house.

Lily barely remembered her father, but somehow she remembered his sadness.

Adrian looked back at the drawing.

"And the sun?"

Lily smiled.

"I made you the sun."

"Why?"

"Because suns help people see."

Nobody spoke.

Then Lily reached forward and touched his sleeve.

A tiny red crayon mark appeared on his expensive black suit.

Claire almost stopped breathing.

But Adrian did not move.

Lily whispered:

"People aren't sad when someone holds their hand."

For the first time in years, the most dangerous man in the city looked completely lost.

Then he stood.

Claire prepared herself.

She expected anger.

Instead, Adrian turned toward Evan Cole, his security chief.

"No one cleans the car."

Evan looked surprised.

"Sir?"

"The drawing stays."

Every guard looked at each other.

Adrian glanced back at Lily.

"Nobody touches it."

"Yes, boss."

Claire couldn't understand.

Why would a man like Adrian Moretti protect a child’s drawing?

She would discover the reason later.

Because Lily had not only drawn on his car.

She had accidentally drawn something that someone else wanted hidden.

That evening, Claire put Lily to bed.

"You cannot go near Mr. Moretti’s car again."

Lily hugged her stuffed rabbit.

"Why?"

"Because he is important."

"Important like Daddy?"

Claire paused.

"No."

"Then why is he sad?"

Claire had no answer.

Later that night, after Lily fell asleep, Claire returned to the kitchen.

A strange sound came from outside.

A car door closing.

Then voices.

She looked through the window.

Adrian stood beside his sedan with Evan.

They were staring at the drawing.

But they were not alone.

A third person stood in the shadows.

Claire couldn't see his face.

Then Adrian noticed something beneath Lily’s red crayon drawing.

Something hidden in the reflection of the car window.

His expression changed instantly.

Evan whispered:

"Boss... that's impossible."

May you like

Adrian reached toward the glass.

And behind the child’s drawing was a symbol only one person in the world should have been able to leave...
