Chapter 1 - The Woman Who Fell Before Everyone

A blonde woman collapsed on the yacht deck, screaming: "Someone help me! I can't breathe!"
When billionaire Adrian Cole was arrested, police found a broken champagne glass belonging to the woman accused of poisoning the party.
But a tiny mark was carved underneath it: "Not an accident."
Adrian suddenly realized this wasn't a simple celebration.
The Mediterranean sun was shining over the private yacht, but the luxury party had already turned into chaos.
Only minutes earlier, everyone had been laughing.
The guests were dressed in expensive summer clothes, holding champagne glasses, celebrating what was supposed to be one of the most unforgettable weekends of their lives.
The yacht belonged to Adrian Cole, a powerful businessman known for his influence, wealth, and carefully protected reputation.
He had invited close friends, business partners, and family members to celebrate the anniversary of his company.
Everything looked perfect.
Until Clara Bennett fell.
I was standing only a few feet away when it happened.
My name was Olivia Hart.
I had known Clara for almost ten years.
She wasn't just my friend.
She was the only person who knew the truth about my past.
The moment she dropped her champagne glass, I saw something in her eyes.
Fear.
Not confusion.
Not surprise.
Fear.
"Clara?"
I ran toward her.
Her body hit the wooden deck.
The glass shattered beside her.
People stopped talking.
Music continued playing for a few seconds before someone finally turned it off.
The silence that followed felt worse than the screaming.
I held Clara's shoulders.
"Stay with me. Look at me."
Her breathing was weak.
Her hands were shaking.
She tried to say something.
But only one word came out.
"Adrian..."
Everyone looked toward him.
Adrian Cole stood near the bar area.
For a moment, he looked completely frozen.
Then he walked toward us.
"What happened?"
Nobody answered.
Because everyone was thinking the same thing.
Why did Clara say his name?
The police arrived twenty minutes later.
Someone had called emergency services.
But another call had been made too.
An anonymous report.
Someone claimed Clara had been poisoned.
The officers immediately separated everyone.
Adrian became their main focus.
Not because they knew he was guilty.
Because the evidence pointed toward him.
His yacht.
His party.
His guests.
His champagne.
One officer approached him.
"Mr. Cole, we need you to come with us."
Adrian laughed bitterly.
"You think I poisoned someone at my own event?"
The officer didn't answer.
Two officers grabbed his arms.
Guests stepped away.
Some looked shocked.
Others looked like they already knew something.
That was when I noticed something strange.
A woman standing behind the crowd.
Her name was Vanessa Cole.
Adrian's younger sister.
She wasn't crying.
She wasn't surprised.
She was watching me.
Like she was waiting for me to remember something.
After the police took Adrian away, I stayed beside Clara.
She was transported to the hospital.
The doctors said she was stable.
But they needed answers.
And so did I.
I returned to the yacht before leaving.
Something bothered me.
The broken champagne glass.
The one everyone ignored.
I picked it up carefully.
There was something underneath.
A small scratch.
Almost invisible.
Three words.
"Not an accident."
My heart started beating faster.
Someone had written that before Clara collapsed.
Someone wanted someone to find it.
I looked around the empty yacht deck.
The flowers were still beautiful.
The tables were still perfectly arranged.
But the entire place felt different now.
Like it was hiding something.
Then my phone rang.
It was Clara.
I answered immediately.
"Clara?"
Her voice was weak.
"Olivia... don't trust anyone from the yacht."
I sat down.
"What are you talking about?"
There was silence.
Then she whispered:
"The person who poisoned me wasn't trying to kill me..."
I held my breath.
"What were they trying to do?"
Before she answered, the call ended.
I called back.
No response.
I rushed toward the hospital.
But before I reached the entrance, I received a message from an unknown number.
It contained only one photo.
A picture taken on the yacht.
It showed Clara holding the champagne glass before she collapsed.
But someone had circled one person in the background.
A person standing behind her.
A person everyone thought had left the party.
And under the picture was one sentence:
"Ask Adrian why he lied about who was on this yacht tonight."
I stared at the screen.
May you like
Because the person in the photo was someone I knew.
Someone who was supposed to be dead.
