Chapter 6 - The Sister Hidden in the Shadows

The woman outside the door whispered one word.

“Father.”

Nobody moved.

Because everyone in the room understood what that meant.

Victor Stone had a daughter.

And she was standing somewhere beyond that door.

Lazero stared at his father.

For years, he believed his family had been destroyed by enemies.

By betrayal.

By violence.

But now he realized something worse.

His family had been hiding from him.

His entire life had been built on missing pieces.

“Open the door,” Lazero said.

Victor did not move.

“Lazero.”

“No.”

His voice was colder now.

“No more secrets.”

The room went silent.

Even Victor understood.

His son was no longer asking.

He was demanding the truth.

Victor slowly walked toward the door.

His hand reached for the handle.

But before he touched it, Elena spoke.

“Lazero.”

He turned.

“What?”

She looked at him with sadness.

“You need to understand something before you see her.”

“Understand what?”

Elena took a breath.

“She did not choose to leave.”

The words confused him.

“What does that mean?”

Victor answered quietly.

“She was taken.”

The door opened.

A woman stepped inside.

She looked around Lazero’s age.

Dark hair.

Sharp eyes.

A calm expression that reminded him of someone.

Someone he could not place.

But then she looked at Victor.

And the anger in her eyes disappeared.

For a second, she looked like a child seeing her father again.

“After all these years…”

Her voice shook.

“You still came back.”

Victor looked at her.

“I had to.”

The woman smiled sadly.

“No.”

She shook her head.

“You wanted to.”

Nobody spoke.

Lazero watched.

Because he had never seen his father look at anyone this way.

Not like a powerful man.

Not like a leader.

Like a father.

“Who is she?” Lazero asked.

The woman looked at him.

Their eyes met.

And something strange happened.

She looked surprised.

Not because she recognized him.

Because she saw something familiar.

“You’re Lazero.”

He nodded.

“How do you know my name?”

The woman looked at Victor.

“You never told him?”

Victor remained silent.

Her expression changed.

“You really kept everything from him.”

Lazero felt anger rising again.

“Everyone keeps saying that.”

His voice became sharper.

“Everyone knows something except me.”

The woman looked at him.

“I know how that feels.”

A pause.

Then she stepped forward.

“My name is Isabella Stone.”

The name meant nothing.

But the last name did.

Stone.

Another Stone.

Another secret.

Lazero stared at her.

“My sister.”

Isabella nodded.

“Yes.”

The word felt impossible.

Lazero laughed quietly.

Not because it was funny.

Because his mind could not accept it.

“My whole life…”

He looked at Victor.

“You knew.”

Victor nodded.

“Yes.”

“And you never told me.”

“I was trying to keep you alive.”

Lazero turned away.

He hated that answer.

Because everyone used it.

Protecting him.

Saving him.

Keeping him alive.

But nobody ever asked if he wanted to live with the truth.

Callie watched him.

She understood.

Because she had lived the same way.

Carrying answers nobody wanted to hear.

Isabella walked toward the table.

She picked up the photograph.

The same photograph from Victor’s file.

“I was ten years old when they took me.”

Lazero looked at her.

“Who?”

Isabella’s face became serious.

“The people who destroyed our family.”

Adrian spoke.

“The Black Circle.”

Everyone looked at him.

A name.

A name that carried fear.

Lazero had heard whispers.

A hidden organization.

A network that controlled businesses, politicians, and criminal groups from the shadows.

Most people believed they were a myth.

But Lazero knew better.

Because his entire life had been shaped by them.

“My father fought them,” Lazero said.

Victor nodded.

“Yes.”

“Why?”

Isabella answered.

“Because he found out they were using our family name.”

The room became silent.

“They were building an empire using the Stone organization.”

Adrian continued.

“And Victor refused to become their puppet.”

Lazero looked at his father.

“So you disappeared.”

“Yes.”

“You abandoned everything.”

Victor looked down.

“Yes.”

Lazero stepped closer.

“And what about her?”

He pointed toward Isabella.

“What happened to her?”

Nobody answered.

That silence told him enough.

“She was the reason you disappeared.”

Victor looked at him.

“She was the reason I survived.”

Isabella looked away.

For the first time, her confidence disappeared.

Because there was pain behind her silence.

“They used me to control him,” she said.

Lazero froze.

“What?”

“They told my father that if he fought back, I would die.”

Victor closed his eyes.

“I had no choice.”

Isabella looked at him.

“You always say that.”

The words were quiet.

But they hurt.

“You chose to leave me.”

Victor looked broken.

“I chose to keep you alive.”

“And I spent twelve years believing you forgot me.”

Nobody spoke.

Lazero watched his father.

The same man who seemed impossible to defeat.

The same man everyone feared.

Was standing there unable to answer his daughter.

Then Callie stepped forward.

“Isabella.”

The woman looked at her.

Recognition appeared immediately.

“You.”

Callie nodded.

“Yes.”

“You were the one searching.”

“Yes.”

Isabella looked at Lazero.

“She knows everything.”

Lazero turned.

“Does she?”

Callie remained silent.

Isabella continued.

“She found the records your father left behind.”

Lazero looked at Callie.

“You knew about Isabella.”

“No.”

Callie shook her head.

“I knew there was someone. I didn’t know it was her.”

Lazero believed her.

And somehow that made things harder.

Because Callie was no longer the person who betrayed him.

She was the person who had been walking through the same darkness.

The lights suddenly flickered.

Everyone stopped.

Victor immediately looked toward the windows.

“No.”

Lazero noticed.

“What?”

Victor’s face changed.

“They found this location.”

Adrian moved toward the entrance.

“How?”

Victor looked at him.

Then at Callie.

“No.”

A terrible realization crossed his face.

“They were never following us.”

Everyone became still.

“They were following her.”

Callie’s expression changed.

“Me?”

Victor nodded.

“Because they know who you really are.”

Lazero looked at Callie.

“What does that mean?”

Before she could answer, every phone in the room vibrated at the same time.

Everyone checked their screens.

One message.

One image.

A photograph of Callie.

Taken years ago.

Standing beside Victor.

But this time, there was something written underneath.

A name.

A name that made Isabella step back.

A name that made Victor lose all color from his face.

Lazero looked at the screen.

And slowly realized the woman he thought was his secretary had been hiding a bloodline connected to his own family.

The message contained only five words:

May you like

"Your sister was never the heir."

And then the front door of the building exploded open.
