Chapter 7 - A Name in the Pharmacy Records
Caleb Voss surrendered without resistance.
That frightened Arthur more than a gun would have.
Voss claimed Samuel hired him to manipulate security access but not to kill Gideon.
Samuel finally confessed part of the truth.
He had learned someone intended to assassinate Gideon during a major organization meeting.
Samuel believed keeping Gideon visibly ill would force the meeting to be canceled.
He secretly manipulated circumstances to prolong what he believed was a manageable medical problem.
But the plan spiraled.
Medication accumulated.
Interactions intensified.
Gideon nearly died.
“You poisoned me to save me?”
“I made you sick.”
Samuel's eyes filled.
“I never intended this.”
Gideon looked at him with disgust.
“Intentions don't repair kidneys.”
But one mystery remained.
Who planned the original assassination?
Caleb produced the stolen chart.
Inside was a pharmacy account number.
Elias traced it.
The account belonged to Wolf Foundation Pediatrics.
Norah stared.
“Children?”
“No,” Dominic said.
“A cover.”
The account had ordered medications under dozens of false names.
One repeated surname appeared across years of records.
Blake.
Norah stopped breathing.
Her surname.
They found her father’s name.
Thomas Blake.
Payments had been made to him for seventeen years.
Norah insisted there was a mistake.
Her father was a broke gambler.
Dominic disagreed.
“Maybe that's what you were meant to believe.”
Norah called him.
No answer.
Arthur sent men to his apartment.

They found photographs.
Gideon.
Dominic.
Samuel.
And Norah.
Pictures dating back to when she was a child.
She felt physically sick.
Gideon stood beside her.
“You didn't know.”
“You don't know that.”
“I do.”
“How?”
“Because you held up the glass.”
He said it as if that settled everything.
Perhaps to him, it did.
Inside Thomas Blake’s apartment, Arthur found a locked metal case.
Norah knew the combination.
Her birthday.
Inside was money.
Passports.
And a letter addressed to her.
She unfolded it.

I need you to understand that your mother did not die the way I told you.
Norah's hands began shaking.
