Chapter 6 - The Night Gina Remembered Everything

The message remained on Adrian's phone.

"She just remembered."

Three words.

But they changed everything.

Adrian stared at the screen while Gina stood across from him, confused and afraid.

"What does that mean?"

He didn't answer.

Because he knew.

Someone had been waiting for this moment.

Someone knew Gina's memories were returning.

Someone knew the truth was finally coming back.

And someone was terrified of what she might remember.

"Gina."

She looked at him.

"What?"

"Do you remember anything?"

The question seemed simple.

But the moment he asked it, her expression changed.

Like a door inside her mind had been pushed open.

She looked down at her hands.

"I don't know."

Adrian stepped closer.

"Try."

She closed her eyes.

At first, nothing happened.

Then her breathing changed.

A small movement.

A reaction.

Like she had just seen something.

"I see..."

Her voice became quiet.

"I see a house."

Adrian froze.

"What house?"

Gina shook her head.

"I don't know."

She touched her temple.

"There was a hallway."

Another breath.

"There was someone yelling."

Adrian watched her carefully.

"Who?"

Her face tightened.

"I don't know."

Then suddenly, she opened her eyes.

"They were fighting."

The room became silent.

"Who was fighting?"

Gina looked at Adrian.

And for a second...

She looked terrified of him.

"You."

Adrian stopped.

"What?"

"You were there."

Her voice shook.

"You and Matteo."

The name alone changed the atmosphere.

Adrian felt like the entire room had become colder.

"What did you see?"

Gina closed her eyes again.

The memories came in pieces.

A broken window.

A wooden table.

Blood on the floor.

Matteo standing in front of her.

And Adrian holding a gun.

"No."

Gina stepped backward.

"No, that's wrong."

Adrian stared.

"What did you see?"

She looked at him.

"You were angry."

Adrian said nothing.

"You were yelling at Matteo."

The words hit him.

Because there was truth in them.

He remembered that night.

But not everything.

Never everything.

"What else?"

Gina shook her head.

"I can't."

"Try."

Her eyes filled with fear.

"Matteo told me to run."

Adrian's expression changed.

"He told you to run?"

She nodded.

"He said if you found out, everyone would die."

Adrian felt his chest tighten.

"What did he mean?"

Gina looked away.

"I don't know."

A silence followed.

Then Adrian's phone rang.

Unknown number.

Again.

Everyone in the room looked at it.

Nobody wanted him to answer.

But Adrian did.

"Who is this?"

For several seconds, there was only silence.

Then a voice.

Older.

Calm.

Familiar.

"Adrian."

His blood froze.

Because he knew that voice.

His father.

But his father had been dead for ten years.

The phone almost slipped from his hand.

"No."

A quiet laugh came through.

"You always were stubborn."

Adrian stepped away from everyone.

"Who are you?"

"You know who I am."

"No."

His voice became colder.

"My father is dead."

The voice softened.

"That is what I wanted everyone to believe."

Adrian couldn't speak.

Gina watched him.

"What is happening?"

He ignored her.

"Where are you?"

Another pause.

"Closer than you think."

The call ended.

Adrian stood still.

Then he turned toward Marco.

"Find him."

Marco looked confused.

"Who?"

Adrian's answer was quiet.

"My father."

Nobody moved.

Because everyone understood what that meant.

If Adrian's father was alive...

Every secret they believed was true was a lie.

Hours passed.

The hospital became a battlefield of questions.

Security surrounded the floor.

Every camera was checked.

Every employee was investigated.

But nothing made sense.

No one entered.

No one left.

Yet someone had walked into Adrian's world and changed everything.

Near midnight, Gina sat by the window.

Adrian noticed she was staring at the city.

"You should sleep."

She didn't look at him.

"I don't think I can."

"Why?"

She smiled sadly.

"Because apparently my life is a lie."

Adrian didn't know what to say.

For years, he had believed his own life was built on truth.

Now he wasn't sure anymore.

Gina looked at him.

"Do you hate me?"

The question surprised him.

"Why would I?"

"Because your brother died because of me."

Adrian became still.

"Who told you that?"

"No one."

She looked down.

"I just feel like it."

Adrian sat across from her.

"You don't know what happened."

"But you do."

He looked away.

Because maybe he didn't.

Not anymore.

Gina opened the old photograph.

The picture of her standing beside Matteo.

"I knew him."

Adrian looked at her.

"What?"

"I don't remember everything."

She touched Matteo's face in the photo.

"But I knew him."

A tear rolled down her cheek.

"He wasn't afraid."

Adrian listened.

"He was scared for someone else."

"Who?"

Gina looked at him.

"You."

The answer destroyed the last piece of certainty Adrian had.

Because Matteo had spent his entire life protecting him.

And Adrian had spent eight years believing Matteo betrayed him.

Suddenly, the hospital lights flickered.

Again.

Adrian immediately stood.

This time, he knew.

Someone was coming.

The security cameras outside went black one by one.

Marco rushed into the room.

"Boss."

Adrian looked at him.

"What?"

Marco held up a phone.

"We found something."

He handed it over.

A live security feed.

A hallway camera.

Someone was walking toward them.

Slowly.

Calmly.

An old man wearing a dark coat.

Adrian stared at the screen.

He didn't need anyone to tell him who it was.

Because he had seen that face his entire childhood.

His father.

The man who raised him.

The man who was supposed to be buried.

Gina looked at the screen.

Then at Adrian.

"Is that..."

Adrian couldn't answer.

The figure stopped outside the hospital room.

The camera showed his face clearly.

Then the feed cut.

A second later, someone knocked.

Three slow knocks.

May you like

Adrian reached for the door handle.

It was already unlocked from the outside. The person standing there whispered his name.
