Chapter 1 - The Girl Beneath the Snow

A little girl lay beneath the snow-covered bench, whispering: "Please... don't leave me here." When millionaire Adrian Cole found her, he discovered a worn stuffed rabbit frozen in her tiny hands. On the rabbit's torn fabric, someone had stitched four small words: "Find him. Trust him." Adrian realized this child was never abandoned.

The snow fell heavily across the empty park as Adrian walked alone beneath the dim glow of Christmas lights.

For most people, Christmas Eve was a night filled with laughter, family dinners, and warm memories.

For Adrian Cole, it was the hardest night of the year.

Three years earlier, he had lost his seven-year-old daughter, Emma.

Since then, every Christmas had felt like a punishment.

The mansion he owned was filled with expensive decorations, but there was no one waiting for him inside. No small footsteps running through the hallway. No little voice asking him to read a bedtime story.

Money had given him everything except the one thing he wanted back.

His child.

That night, Adrian had left a charity dinner early because he couldn't stand watching happy families celebrate.

He walked through the park without knowing where he was going.

The cold air burned his face.

The snow covered his expensive shoes.

But he didn't care.

Then he heard something.

A faint sound.

A small voice.

At first, Adrian thought it was the wind.

Then he heard it again.

"Please..."

He stopped.

His eyes moved toward an old wooden bench covered almost completely by snow.

Something purple was visible beneath the white blanket.

Adrian rushed forward.

And then his heart stopped.

A little girl was lying there.

She looked no older than seven.

Her blonde hair was covered in snow.

Her small purple coat was frozen stiff.

Her tiny hands were wrapped around a worn stuffed rabbit.

Adrian immediately dropped to his knees.

"Hey... hey, can you hear me?"

The girl slowly opened her eyes.

They were tired.

Terrified.

But somehow, they still carried hope.

She looked at him for several seconds.

Then she whispered:

"I'm waiting for my mama."

Those words hit Adrian harder than the freezing wind.

Because three years ago, his daughter had said almost the same thing.

She had waited by the window for him to come home.

She had waited for a father who arrived too late.

Adrian removed his black winter coat and wrapped it around the girl.

"Where is your mother?" he asked softly.

The girl looked down at the stuffed rabbit.

"My mama said someone would find me."

Adrian examined the rabbit.

It was old and damaged.

One ear was almost torn off.

But something about it caught his attention.

Inside the torn fabric was a small piece of paper.

Carefully, Adrian pulled it out.

Only three words were written.

"Don't trust him."

His expression changed.

This wasn't just a lost child.

Someone had left her there for a reason.

Adrian picked up the girl and carried her through the snow.

The child immediately rested her head against his chest.

For the first time in years, Adrian felt something he thought he had lost forever.

The feeling of protecting someone.

But he didn't know that while he was carrying the little girl away from the park, a woman was lying unconscious in a hospital room across the city.

A woman who had spent the last hours trying to protect her daughter.

A woman who knew the truth about Adrian.

The next morning, Adrian received a phone call.

The hospital receptionist said one sentence:

"Mr. Cole... the girl's mother just woke up."

Adrian froze.

Because the woman on the other end added:

"She asked for you by name."

May you like

And then Adrian heard the woman's voice through the phone for the first time.

"Please tell him... I never wanted him to find her."
