Chapter 9 - The DNA of Love
The next morning, Ethan fired his entire PR team when they suggested he do damage control regarding Victoria. He didn't care about the tabloids. He cared about the little girl who was currently sitting at his kitchen island, eating pancakes while swinging her legs.
A discrete DNA test was rushed, though Ethan didn't need a piece of paper to tell him what his soul already knew. When the results came back 99.9% positive, he didn't throw a lavish party. He sat on the floor of the kitchen, right next to Lily, and asked her if she wanted to learn how to play the piano properly.
Rebuilding trust with Rosa was harder. She had spent three years building walls, and Ethan knew he had to dismantle them brick by brick. He didn't try to buy her forgiveness with cars or jewelry. He bought it with time. He was there for every bedtime story. He funded a new laboratory and offered her a position to finish her degree on her own terms. He proved, day by day, that he was no longer the man who ran away.
