Chapter 1 - THE DRIVEWAY OF THORNS

[SCENE START - 15-SECOND VIRAL HOOK]

(Visual Prompt: Ultra-realistic 8k cinematic shot. Rain pouring violently on a luxury suburban mansion driveway. Thunder strikes. A middle-aged woman in torn clothes kneels in front of a young man holding her luggage.)

MASON: "Sign the deed transfer right now, Mom, or I’m calling the police to drag you off my property for trespassing!"

ELEANOR: "Mason, please... I carried you for nine months! I gave up my career to build this estate for you and your father! How can you throw your own mother onto the street in the freezing rain for that woman?"

RICHARD: "Shut your mouth, Eleanor! You’re old, pathetic, and useless. Chloe is carrying my heir, and my son knows where the real power lies. Hand over the family trust key, or you sleep in the ditch tonight!"

[HOOK END]

The rain stung Eleanor Vance’s face like tiny glass needles, but the cold water was nothing compared to the ice tearing through her heart. Standing on the sleek granite driveway of the Oakridge Manor—a home she had spent twenty-five years designing, decorating, and nurturing—she looked into the eyes of the two men she had loved most in the world.

Her husband of nearly three decades, Richard Vance, stood under a wide black umbrella, his arm wrapped around Chloe, a stunning twenty-four-year-old former intern who wore Eleanor’s missing emerald diamond necklace. And standing right beside them, holding Eleanor’s battered leather suitcase, was Mason—her twenty-six-year-old son, the boy she had stayed awake with through feverish nights, the young man whose college tuition and business ventures she had personally financed.

"Mason... look at me," Eleanor pleaded, her voice trembling against the roar of the thunderstorm. "I am your mother. You know your father altered the board documents while I was recovering from surgery in the hospital! Chloe didn’t just seduce him; she stole our family funds! Why are you doing this?"

Mason didn't blink. His expression was cold, molded entirely by his father's manipulative promises of inherited wealth and executive titles. He shoved the heavy leather suitcase off the porch, sending it tumbling into a muddy puddle at Eleanor’s feet. The latch snapped open, spilling her modest personal belongings—old family photographs, a few knitted baby blankets, and a silver heart medallion—into the churning water.

"You’re living in the past, Mom," Mason sneered, stepping closer and dropping a set of legal eviction papers right onto her wet chest. "Dad built Vance Enterprises. You were just a housewife who spent decades weeping over a dead memory. We don't need your tragic drama dragging down our family reputation anymore. Pack your trash and get off our land."

"A dead memory?" Eleanor gasped, blood draining from her face. "You mean your sister? Your twin sister Lily?!"

Richard stepped forward, his eyes burning with corporate malice. "Don't bring up the lost brat, Eleanor! Twenty years ago you lost Lily at the state fair because you were careless! You ruined my life with your grief, and I’ve paid for your useless existence long enough. I’ve transferred all bank accounts into Chloe’s name. You have zero dollars, zero rights, and zero family. If you set foot on this street again, my legal team will put you in prison for harassment."

Chloe let out a soft, mocking chuckle, resting her manicured hand on her stomach. "Oh, poor Eleanor... Don't worry, I'll take great care of Richard's money. And Mason's position as Vice President is completely secure—as long as he stays loyal to us. Now be a good little homeless lady and crawl away."

Eleanor looked at Chloe, then at her husband, and finally at her son. Mason looked away for a split second, a flash of cowardice in his posture, but he did not step forward to help her. He simply turned his back and walked inside the warm, golden glow of the mansion, closing the grand double doors behind him.

The heavy iron gates of Oakridge Manor locked with a sharp, mechanical clack.

Eleanor fell to her knees in the mud. The rain washed over her grey-streaked hair as she gathered the ruined photographs of her children. Twenty years ago, her world had fractured when four-year-old Lily vanished without a trace in a crowded carnival crowd. Eleanor had spent two decades searching, hiring investigators, and pouring every spare penny into missing children charities, all while maintaining the family business behind the scenes while Richard paraded around as the visionary CEO.

Now, she had nothing. No money. No home. No husband. And a son who had traded his soul for a inheritance built on lie after lie.

Clutching the tarnished silver heart medallion—the only matching artifact to the one little Lily was wearing the day she disappeared—Eleanor pushed herself up from the cold pavement. Her body shook with hypothermia, but deep inside the ashes of her shattered heart, a tiny spark of survival flared into a burning flame.

"I gave you everything," she whispered toward the locked gates, her eyes hardening through her tears. "I built you up, Richard. I gave you life, Mason. And I promise you... the day will come when you beg me to return."

With no coat, no umbrella, and only eighty-four cents in her pocket, Eleanor Vance turned her back on the mansion and began walking down the dark, endless highway into the storm.
