Chapter 1 - The Storm of Betrayal

"Throwing your own mother into the freezing rain like a piece of trash isn't just cruel—it's unforgivable! How can a woman who sacrificed twenty-five years of her life be stripped of everything in less than ten minutes?"
The cold evening wind sliced through Eleanor’s thin sweater as the heavy oak front door of the Montgomery mansion slammed shut in her face. The deadbolt clicked into place with a sharp, sickening sound that reverberated through her chest like a gunshot. Standing on the marble steps, bathed in the harsh light of the porch lamp, stood her twenty-three-year-old daughter, Sophia, alongside her stepson, Mason.
"You don't belong here anymore, Eleanor," Mason said cold-heartedly, adjusting his designer suit. "The deed to this house was transferred to my name this morning. Dad’s real will was finalized long before he died, and he made sure you didn't get a single dime. Pack your tears and get off my property before I call the police for trespassing."
Eleanor stared at them in sheer disbelief, rainwater dripping down her pale, tired face. "Sophia... please," Eleanor begged, her voice trembling as she looked at her biological daughter. "I raised you. I gave up my entire career as an architect to make sure you had everything! How can you stand next to him and let this happen?"
Sophia sneered, folding her arms over her chest without an ounce of remorse. "You ruined my life, Mom! Dad told me everything before he passed. He told me how you secretly resented me, how you tried to give me up when I was a baby, and how you cheated on him with every business partner he ever had! You’re a fake, and I’m glad Mason is taking over. My fiancé, Julian, and I are moving in tomorrow."
"That’s a lie!" Eleanor cried out, her knees weak as the emotional damage shattered her soul. "Your father manipulated every piece of paper in this house! I loved him, I loved you!"
"Save your pathetic speech for the alleyways," Mason spat, throwing a single worn cardboard box onto the wet driveway. "Here are your worthless trinkets. Get out of our sight."
Eleanor fell to her knees in the pouring rain, her fingers digging into the soaked dirt as the tail lights of her stepson's luxury car glinted in the distance. Inside the cardboard box lay a stack of old letters. As the rain dissolved the paper, Eleanor opened a thick manila envelope that had fallen out of her late husband’s personal safe during the eviction.
Her eyes scanned the documents under the dim streetlights, and her blood ran cold. It wasn't just money they had stolen from her. The legal papers proved that for twenty years, her late husband, Richard, had been having an affair with Eleanor’s childhood best friend, Victoria. Together, Richard and Victoria had spent two decades embezzling Eleanor's inheritance, poisoning Sophia’s mind with fabricated medical records and forged journals, making Sophia believe Eleanor was a mentally unstable, negligent mother.

Even worse, Eleanor discovered a hidden medical file from twenty-four years ago—the night she gave birth in a private clinic. She had been told her firstborn twin boy had died at birth. But the document in her shaking hands revealed a devastating truth: the boy hadn't died. Richard and Victoria had sold the child to an underground adoption ring to clear Richard’s massive gambling debts before he ever married Eleanor for her family wealth.
Drenched, penniless, and utterly broken, Eleanor held the wet papers against her chest. She had lost her husband to treachery, her stepson to greed, her daughter to poisonous lies, and her long-lost son to a horrific crime. Sitting in the dark on a public park bench as the clock struck midnight, Eleanor gripped the edge of the wooden seat and made a silent vow: she would not die in the shadows. She would survive, expose the monster who stole her child, and reclaim everything that was taken from her.
